First Aid

This week we had Nikoli from St. John come in to teach us about first aid.
We learned about D.R.S.A.B which is an acronym for Dangers, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing. This is the order of how you help some who requires first aid. We also learned how to call 111 in an emergency, and what information we need to know to tell the 111 call centre.
We did some role playing to practice these scenarios. As you can see, our unconscious people were a bit giggly, and we were a bit noisy, but we learned a lot, and are confident we'd know what to do in an emergency.

Your post made me remember when St. John came to our school last year but they taught something different. Maybe next you could have a voice in the background saying how do you know if someone is unconscious. I would love it if you left a comment on my blog.

  4. Hello we are Whakarua from South Hornby School, a year 4-6 class.
We liked the way you showed us what to do in an emergency and we loved how you explained what you were learning. When we read your post we learnt that we need to follow the DRSAB when we do first aid. We would like to know why do you wiggle the patients?
